Smithsonian Institution's Traveling Key Ingredients exhibition. 
The exhibit examines how culture, ethnicity, landscape, and tradition influence the food and flavors enjoyed across America.  It traces the evolution of the American kitchen and the response of the food industry to technological innovations.  BAMA is excited about the artifacts, photographs, and illustrations on loan from "America's Museum" and hopes to enhance them even more with local items.

October 2-5,  Florence: 10th Anniversary Merry Marketplace
Location: Florence Civic Center - 3300 W. Radio Drive
About:
Merry Marketplace is a favorite holiday tradition in the Pee Dee. With over 70 vendors, Merry Marketplace offers an extraordinary shopping experience. Silver Jewelry, educational toys, decorations, gourmet foods and original artwork are just a sample of all that is available at this three-day shopping extravaganza. The public is invited for a sneak peek at our "Twas the Night before Merry Marketplace" Preview Party on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Get your first choice from the wonderful merchandise, while enjoying cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction and live music. Tickets for the preview party are $25.00 and available in advance at Talbots, at the Junior League Office (667-0376) or at the door.

General admission tickets for shopping are $7. Shopping hours are 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Friday and Saturday and 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday!

October 11,  Ninety Six:  Annual Candlelight Tour
Location: Ninety Six National Historic Site - Ninety Six National Historic Site is located two miles south of Ninety Six on SC Highway 248.
About:
Nearly 500 candle luminaries and torches will light the one mile historic trail.  History will come to life as costumed volunteers portray settlers and soldiers of old Ninety Six during the Colonial and Revolutionary eras.

About: This stirring dramatization of the story of Helen Keller is one of the most successful and warmly admired plays of the modern stage. After an illness in infancy renders Helen blind, deaf and mute, she comes under the tutelage of Annie Sullivan,  young Irish woman, herself partially blind.
